All of us want life don’t we, not physical life, we’ve got that, but LIFE; the meat and marrow of it all. This is a tragic story of spiritual suicide by a rich young ruler. A guy who had it all and would have qualified as probably one of the more religious people you would have known. He had everything going for him, but may just be the only person in Scripture that met Christ with a sincere question and walked away more destitute than he came. We learn here that the call of Christ is the call of revolution in the heart. The question for us is what’s holding us back? What idol is in the clutches of our hearts standing in the way of His lordship in our lives? We find that it has little to do with an outward action, or thing, and everything to do with the attitude or position of our heart towards him.
