Spiritual formation, walking away from our sin, takes intentionality and effort, but God’s promise is that he will meet us in that process if we submit to him. We need to look at our lives as if we were looking into a diamond. Where are we not living out of God’s Grace? The Puritans used to say that it is not enough to say I have sinned, but we need to look at the many facets of our transgression, as if looking at a diamond. To understand deeply the effects it has not only on us but on everything around us. We need to gaze into its many cuts and reflections. We need to realize that when I sin, even privately, even just in my inner attitude and thoughts, it deeply affects me, and my relationship with God and others. In other words we need to show proper respect and attention to the power of our own fallen hearts.
